We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news.
After more than 10 years of supporting women across Eastbourne and the surrounding area, we have been awarded a four-year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. For a small, grassroots charity that began in a garage and has gone on to support more than 1,000 women, this is a significant milestone for us.
But for us, this funding isn’t simply about what we can do now — it’s about what comes next.
Strengthening our Peer Support
The funding will enable us to strengthen and develop our Peer Support services, including both individual and group support.
We want to continue building a reliable, welcoming and trusted space where women can find connection, understanding and support from people who genuinely understand what they may be going through. Our Peer Support service is rooted in the belief that sometimes, being listened to and understood by someone with their own lived experience can make a real difference.
Listening to Hidden Voices
The funding will also support the development of our Hidden Voices Project. Through this work, we will listen to women whose experiences are often overlooked or missing from existing data. We want to better understand the challenges and barriers they face, particularly those whose voices aren’t always represented, and identify where change is needed.
Listening has always been at the heart of what we do.
We believe women themselves are best placed to tell us what matters, what isn’t working and what could make a difference. By listening to those experiences, we can shape our services around the realities of women’s lives and strengthen our ability to advocate for meaningful change.
Looking to the future
This funding also gives us the opportunity to grow thoughtfully and sustainably. It means we can invest not only in our services, but in the people, volunteers and culture behind them — making sure that as we grow, we remain true to what makes WayfinderWoman what it is.
We’re hugely grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for its confidence in our vision and for giving us the opportunity to take this next step.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our volunteers, supporters, local organisations, community groups and partners who have helped us reach this point. WayfinderWoman has always been built through collaboration, and we couldn’t have got here without the people who have believed in what we do.
And, of course, to the 1,000+ women who have trusted us with their experiences over the years — thank you.
Your stories, experiences and voices are at the heart of WayfinderWoman, and they will continue to shape where we go next.
